The Secret To Staying Young

Be honest, the title grabbed you, right?  I do have a secret to staying young - try new things.  For example, I love to move my furniture around.  (My husband is always looking for something that I've put in a new, better place.)  I love to try new art techniques.  Right now I'm using a lot of gray/neutral tones with pops of color in my colored pencil pieces.  I'm getting further along on my painting with ducks and fish.

                                                                 Any title ideas?

I've been trying new cooking ideas.  My daughter sent me a Tajine, a middle eastern cooking pot.  It's ceramic, so I had to season it before I could cook anything.  The directions said to soak the bottom and the lid in water for 24 hours.

Now I'm ready to try chicken tajine.  Some recipes look a bit complicated, but I'm cooking chicken legs with onions and garlic.  I bought a stove top heat diffuser so the ceramic pot doesn't crack.

Hey, not bad!  Have you tried anything new lately?  Anyone else have a tajine?

  1. The food looks delicious but I've never tried cooking with one. I love the picture with the ducks, but I'm horrible at coming up with cool titles.

  3. Sleightgirl & Sweet Posy Dreams, thanks for your comments! I learned that the word Tajine (or Tagine) refers to either the pot or the food. You can cook a tajine in a tajine, I guess!

  5. Title idea - Duck, duck, fish

So how was the dinner? Worth the effort?

  6. CoffeeBreakCrn, is your clay pot different from my tagine? OK, melmon, honestly? I wouldn't make this recipe again. It tasted fine, but not amazing. I browned the chicken first in a regular pan, because I was afraid of turning up the heat on the tagine. Cleaning 2 pots? Nah. Thanks for the title idea!

  7. Susie, I love how you try new things. That "pop of color" is great, set against the subdued colors. It is like you see something new with each glance! -Deborah

  8. The drawing is lovely and serene. I love trying new things, too. Except moving furniture. I always think there is only one best way to arrange the furniture in a room! But recipes! I love trying new recipes. My husband cringes when I say, "I tried something new tonight." But then, he moves the furniture around when I go out of town! Go figure.

  13. I try more new things creating than cooking. DH does most of the cooking around here, and it's a good thing.

  14. That looks amazing! I agree that trying new things will help keep you young. I recently joined a writing group. The idea scared me at first, because you have to read your stuff aloud sometimes. But even after just 2 meetings, I am already seeing a difference in my writing. :)

  17. I am trying to develop new, healthier habits. I have recently learned about keeping my body's PH in check, so I am slowly trying to (learn how to) cook and consume foods that will lead to a more balanced PH. Thanks for sharing!
